November 2006

Country Patchwork Quilt  Guild

PO Box 365  Marshall, MO 65340

 From the President ----

Hi all.

I’m waiting for the rain to start.  Happy to be inside.  Can you believe that it is “holiday season”?  Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s.  Then it will be time to quilt again.  I hope you all allow me to have the quilting at my house again.  I had such a good time with that.  I have got to lose another 10 pounds before we start on this next quilt!!  Quilt-a while, eat-a-while.  That was the rhythm.

I’ve brought my suitcase up for my trip next week.  Houston!!!  I am so excited.  I have never been to a show of this size before.  I can’t wait.  I am honored that Michael allowed us all the opportunity to have a part in his quilt that is hanging there.

At the November meeting we will be making plans for our December Christmas luncheon.  We will also be having a program on English paper piecing.  I am currently hand piecing a miniature flower garden and am anxious to try this!

Thanks to everyone who has inquired about my Mom.  She will be having a pacemaker with defibrillator implanted tomorrow (Thursday).  She should be back home on Friday.

See you all soon!

I was born in Minnesota and slowly have moved south.  I married Robert in November of 1955 and we celebrated our 50th last November.  We have 4 children—a son Harlan (Suann’s husband) and 3 daughters Norma, Sandy, and Sharon; 12 grandchildren and our 9th great-grandchild is due in March.  I have quilted since the mid  ‘60’s and have made over 100 quilts about half full sized.  Only a great aunt was a quilter but now besides my daughter-in-law Suann, I have a daughter Sandra getting into it.

Over a year ago, I read or saw a piece on talking quilts and last October I found the blocks I am using while I was camping (my other passion).  So along with some blue and yellow material, this is what my friendship quilt will be made of.  Thank everyone who makes me a block .
